About Krista Meserve

I am entering the last year of my Ph.D. studies in the Chemistry Department at the University of Michigan, with an expected graduation timeline of May-June 2024. I aim to enter the workforce in a biotechnology position focusing on assay development, application of technology to a clinical cohort, or bioanalytical research and development. My dissertation work in bioanalytical chemistry under the guidance of Dr. Ryan Bailey centers around applying a multiplexed optical biosensor platform to measure immunological protein levels in patient samples for diagnostic, prognostic, or clinical monitoring outcomes. The impacts of my projects span from infectious disease control and immunoprofiling to predictive modeling and assay development. My experience managing short- and long-term collaborations with academic and medical professionals, international multi-site clinical studies, and multiple projects simultaneously has provided me valuable insight into the importance of clear, direct communication with vendors and project leaders. I have gained and refined professional skills, from project management to mentoring, and laboratory skills, such as assay development, R programming, statistical analysis, and reagent management.
