Beyond learning high level critical thinking skills, a team-based approach to delivering quality care, the value of cultural competency, and becoming a proficient leader, being a student nurse in the MEPN program at USD has given me profound insight about myself and the true meaning of compassion. I am proud to pursue a career in nursing where I will have unlimited learning opportunities, broad diversity in the workplace, and the chance to positively influence health outcomes for patients every single day. I take great pride and responsibility in having the opportunity to care for others during the most vulnerable moments of their lives and am committed to providing ethical, evidence-based, and dignified care to those that I serve. I recognize that my ability to express kindness, empathy, and genuine concern for others while remaining level-headed, accessible, and in control during high pressure situations makes me a suitable candidate for the nursing profession. My interpersonal communication skills, optimistic attitude, and ability to prioritize and manage the numerous tasks associated with care taking make me a highly qualified team member to any healthcare organization.
