About Kristen Freeman

Kristen is an innovative educator dedicated to transforming classroom experiences and reshaping how students learn and grow. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Education in Talent Development with a minor in Reading Instruction, both from Texas State University.With a strong commitment to whole-child education, Kristen integrates mindful movement and breathwork into her teaching to create calm, supportive environments that nurture both social-emotional and academic development. In 2017, she completed the Breathe for Change training, becoming a Yoga Alliance–certified yoga instructor and a Breathe for Change Wellness Champion.Kristen began her specialized work as a Reading Intervention Teacher and Yoga & Mindfulness Instructor in San Marcos, Texas. In 2019, she moved to Denver, Colorado to join Academy 360, a public health and wellness charter school, where she served as both the Gifted and Talented Coordinator and a Kindergarten Teacher. Her leadership and impact led to two promotions: first to Academic Director for ECE–2nd grade in 2022, and then to Academic Director for ECE–5th grade in 2023.As Academic Director, Kristen led strategic instructional initiatives that successfully moved school-wide academic data, directly contributing to a shift in the school’s Colorado Department of Education School and District Performance Framework rating—from Turnaround status to Priority Improvement—in just one year.Kristen has a particular passion for working with twice-exceptional students and specializes in supporting children with reading differences, championing inclusive and individualized learning strategies that help all students thrive.
