About Kristi Wheeldon

My goal to improve student achievement has now been expanded to include leading other educators in this pursuit. I have a passion for improving professional development to reach all teachers similar to my methods of classroom teaching to reach all students. My experience as an adjunct professor and conference presenter has helped hone my skills in educating adults. I have a unique understanding of student-centered differentiated instruction and managing student behavior which led me to win statewide recognition with the Larry Beye Memorial Re-­Educator of the Year Award as well as national recognition with the Teacher­/Counselor of the Year Award. I also have a history of building bridges with parents and families, particularly those who have had conflict with schools in the past. Other than in the classroom, one of the most satisfying aspects of education for me has been contributing to a positive school climate by staying involved in extra-curricular activities. I have been a girls basketball coach, Student-led Eco-Council director, Student Council sponsor, and Drama Club coordinator and actively seek ways of inspiring and challenging students beyond the classroom.
