About Kristian Ilustre

Even though I'm educated, I'm always a student. Becoming the "bridge" by connecting what I learned in physical therapy clinic and strength and performance training environment to improve ones general health and movement. Having a Bachelors in Kinesiology I would know how a person moves, a person's normal to abnormal tendencies of movement, nutrition, etc. Above all, I'm always ready to learn new things that can always benefit me in my work field but always benefit the people I interact and work together with. I want and will be the change that I would like to see happen, so learning and teaching never stops! Background info: I have been training for sports ever since I was 14, but I was first introduced in this “fitness industry” as a salesperson for L.A. Fitness (City Sports in the Bay Area). From there I learned to build rapport with the people I meet, hear others out, and react based on their needs. This would lead to other opportunities such as working at GNC and now helping customers on the types of supplements they should be taking, leading me to learn on what vitamins a healthy person should take, what supplements an athletic/sports person should consume, and overall, what a person needs for their general health/well being. Now, I work at a physical therapy clinic, and from the skills that I have learned from my past jobs and my curriculum at San Francisco State, optimizes on how I work with patients and overall my field. In summary, my passion for becoming a Doctor in Physical Therapy is paved by the way I work with others, like a team setting, and my love for sports and fitness and how all that leads into making a person better physically and mentally. This is what I excel in and what I love to do, especially when I surround myself with others who have the same drive as me or the same passions as me. Additional “attributes” I hold: working well with volunteers, training new hires, quick thinking and reacting in certain situations, any front desk work, and from what patients have told me, a good listener/ personal “therapist.” I am also a “cultural worker” in the Filipino diaspora in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a certified personal trainer and a performance enhancement specialist under the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and I am currently applying to physical therapy school to earn my doctorate.
