About Kristian Odebjer

I work for the most part with entrepreneurial clients, several of whom have built sizable businesses from scratch. Seeing a new venture take off is one of the great rewards of my job. Often, I assist clients entering new markets outside their home country. I aim to keep things simple while at the same time making sure that my clients are prepared to face whatever legal challenges they may encounter. Having studied Chinese while at law school, I came to Hong Kong early on in my career as a lawyer at a leading Swedish law firm that had opened an office in Hong Kong already in the 1980’s. Over the years I have advised on a broad range of cross-border corporate matters and transactions. Having also spent several years on Wall Street, I am comfortable around balance sheets and financial models. With dual admissions (Swedish Advokat + Hong Kong Solicitor), I straddle the civil-common law divide. In addition to my own expertise and experience, clients benefit from my network of trusted collaborators spread across China, the Nordic countries, and beyond. I am a non-executive director on a number of boards, both in the corporate world and for different non-profit organizations. I have served as the chairman of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong since 2017.
