Background

About Kristin Dinning

I am a marine biologist specializing in the ecology, fisheries, and habitats of marine species of the Canadian Atlantic Ocean. My work has included population biology, aquatic invasive species, biological oceanography, habitat ecology and mapping, and biodiversity. I have extensive experience in scientific field sampling, at-sea on small and large boats, as well as skills in project design and management, data collection and statistical analysis, and geospatial analysis. I possess strong communication and collaboration skills and have participated in joint research efforts with academic and government scientists, and industry stakeholders. I have also served on numerous advisory committees for commercially fished species, working with government resource managers, scientists, and the fishing industry. As a science outreach volunteer, I have developed several hands-on classroom learning activities for grade school to high school students to learn about fisheries management, conservation, and biodiversity. I have also taught undergraduate courses at the University of New Brunswick as an instructor and as a teaching assistant.
