About Kristina Egger

As a researcher at the spin-off fellowship Droso_Ex at the University of Graz, I am working on the development of an innovative biocide against the invasive fruit fly Drosophila suzukii, which causes enormous damage to agriculture. This project combines my passion for biotechnology with my interest in sustainable solutions to new challenges. I graduated with honors from the Master's program in Biotechnology at the Graz University of Technology, where I wrote my diploma thesis on the optimisation of serum-free cell culture medium and gene expression in Pichia pastoris. Prior to my current position, I worked as a scientist at acib GmbH, a leading competence center for industrial biotechnology in Austria. There, I participated in a project that focused on the optimisation of serum-free cell culture medium for muscle stem cells. In this role, I further developed and applied my skills in data analysis, laboratory work, cell culture, teamwork, organizational skills, and communication. My goal is to combine my passion for biotechnology with my curiosity for new challenges and my commitment to society. I am constantly looking for new learning opportunities and am willing to adapt to different working environments and requirements. I am convinced that biotechnology is a key area for solving many global problems in order to improve the quality of life for people.
