Background
About Kristine T.
update / 2024-2025, I've been working with the Lazuli team to define the product, and we have landed on a very interesting idea of creating a data warehouse for products. It is a complete change from what the product is now, but would house all the functions and features that Lazuli has been working on for years. I was tasked to create the internal tool which is built through Ruby-and I was able to make design, backend and frontend implementations. This is made to accompany our current project for internal users, for more administrative functions. prologue / On October 2020, I began learning how to code with the intention of being a software engineer. After a foundations programming course, a couple of years of saving up, and an immersive boot camp later, now I'm actively searching for a job as a software engineer. Why the transition? 2020 was a tough year for most—the pandemic broke loose and shut down our societies and forced us at home. However, this surplus of time got me thinking of learning something or doing something new again. I did my research, and looked at my current situation at that time: I live in Tokyo, and I teach English to cute Japanese children. While I don't particularly dislike my job, I always dreamed to do something creative and highly innovative. So I chose to start learning how to code and found the perfect program for my rather unconventional schedule. I wanted something dynamic and ever-changing, yet a highly well-sought skill set. I wanted to create, design, collaborate, and help other people in the process. I wanted to challenge myself, not to stay stagnant and comfortable, to seek better ways to live and be more flexible. I also had to come face to face with myself: my weaknesses, insecurities, and the reality that nothing will ever change if I don’t do something about it. As of June 2023, I've successfully transitioned to becoming a software engineer with a Japanese start-up. Thank you all for your support. This Linkedin profile will continue to be a portal for those who want to reach out and/or connect and watch me as I grow professionally as a software engineer. currently learning / Python and Go. I also wanted to further my knowledge about frontend testing and I've been experimenting with different libraries. I also have a growing interest in UI/UX design and looking hopefully do some studying in my downtime.
