About Kristopher Zelkin

I am a Consulting Actuary in Willis Towers Watson’s Health and Group Benefits practice with fifteen years of experience assisting clients in analyzing their employee benefit programs through the pricing, design, reserving, and management of benefit offerings. I manage projects designed to set and execute strategies to achieve targeted financial outcomes and drive employee engagement. I lead annual self-funded medical and dental budget development for clients including the setting of self-funded premium equivalent rates, development of employee contribution strategies, and the modeling of plan design alternatives (including implementation of HDHP plans). During the year, I deliver tools to help clients monitor plan performance and experience compared to budget. I manage renewing and negotiating fully-insured vendor contracts, including vendor procurements. I have extensive experience in the development and analysis of IBNR reserves for self-funded clients and serve as a national resource for Towers Watson actuaries in this capacity. I maintain and incorporate updates to Towers Watson’s IBNR model used by actuaries and associates nationwide. Additionally, I am a key member of a team of actuaries recruited to develop and maintain a modeling tool to help clients analyze the financial implications of health care reform on both the employer and the employee. I graduated from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics. In 2011, I earned the FSA designation as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. I am also a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
