About Kristy Johnson

Born and raised in the twin cities, Kristy has been a flourishing Fargo/Moorhead resident for the past 10 years after rebuilding a beautiful life for herself. Kristy previously spent many years in the system in different spectrums such as foster care, struggling with her own mental health and addiction, prison, and beyond. She now spends her time utilizing her journey and lived experience to serve the community. Kristy has spent the past 9 years working in the Human Service realm at numerous capacities. She recently rejoined F5 Project efforts after spending 4 years with the State of North Dakota Behavioral Health Division where she assisted in ramping up statewide providers and agencies to provide quality services our communities need to thrive. She also spearheaded the statewide Peer Support Program during her time at the state, ensuring the growth and quality services provided in the peer realm. Kristy also currently works for the Minnesota Department of Corrections as the Clay Co. Compliance Agent for Clay County Drug Court. In that role, she gets to utilize her lived experience while assisting drug court clients on their journey to success and wellness. Kristy's favorite thing to do is cheerlead for others on their journey, while ensuring the expansion of accessible services and support. Outside of her primary roles in the community she also takes part in various projects with the ND DOCR. In 2022, Kristy was the recipient of the "Phoenix Award", provided by the Gov and First Lady of North Dakota. Kristy also enjoys occasional public speaking engagments that highlight not only her own personal journey and the possibility of recovery, but also the importance of community. Outside of her work in the community, Kristy enjoys exploring and taking random adventures with her children, reading, and enjoying nature to the fullest extent!
