About Kriti Ghai

A Civil Engineer and Urban and Regional Planner by training, I am currently pursuing a PhD in Transportation Engineering and Planning at the Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Nagpur. Through a Bachelor's degree in engineering followed by a Master's in planning, I developed not just technical proficiency but also a sense of purpose – to meaningfully contribute to how cities are planned, how people move, and how infrastructure evolves in response to growing urban challenges. My academic and professional journey has helped me build a strong understanding that planning is essential for the effective utilisation of resources. My interests are shaped by what I’ve studied and worked on so far. I’ve engaged with areas like freight transportation, mobility planning, and climate-related urban strategies. These came up through academic work, field surveys, planning documentation, and research-based internships. I’ve been involved in tasks like data collection, report writing, policy review, mapping, and analysis, across themes such as transport systems, heritage-sensitive planning, and physical infrastructure design and documentation, including preparation of structural drawings, quantity estimates, and village infrastructure plans. I’m interested in contributing to work that brings together engineering insight and planning sensibility, especially in areas like mobility systems, infrastructure development, and their role in shaping everyday life.
