About Kryssie Beard

I have a firm belief that our children are our future. As such it is my role, as an educator, to create a classroom atmosphere that is respectful, inclusive and community orientated, to serve as a role model, and to inspire an inquisitive learner. My classroom is a dynamic and engaging place for students to feel safe, challenged, and to thrive. I hold mutual respect and courtesy in the highest regard. I teach using bits and pieces of my personal life to connect to my students; creating an inviting environment of warmth and caring. I create lessons that use collaboration and Jig Saw methodology. I establish high behavioral and academic expectations and am consistent. I seek to engage the whole student; mentally, emotionally, academically, and socially. As an educator, I serve as a role model for my students and their families. I maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. I regularly participate in charity events; such as ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Community Food Drives, Relay for Life, and Junior Diabetes Foundation. I believe in creating civic mindedness in my students. My goal, as an educator, is to create life-long learners. I teach with passion and inquisition to motivate my students to challenge themselves to “figure out” the answer. Project-based learning, cross-curricular mapping, and simulations are my chosen methods of teaching. I desire that my students feel involved and responsible for their own learning.
