About Krysta Rydecki

I never imagined I’d end up working in AI. I was first introduced to it while studying cognitive science and psychology — and I thought it was an interesting, incredibly challenging idea: how do we design machines to behave intelligently? At the time it seemed wildly ambitious and perhaps a little out of reach, but still, that question stuck with me. I didn’t take a direct path to AI, but everything I studied along the way helped shape how I approach technical problems today. Psychology taught me how to observe patterns, ask sharper questions, and think critically about people and systems. The process-loving part of me was born in psychology research labs, along with my dedication to methodological rigor and attention to detail. It also taught me just how quirky human data can be. While studying psychology I was introduced to statistics. It was the first time I felt how meaningful numbers could be. Equations aren’t just problems to be solved — they are a different way to see the world. The numeric veil had been lifted and there was no going back. Grad school in data science introduced me to computing and machine learning and gave me the tools to work with complex datasets. More than anything, it taught me how to learn fast and stay calm when nothing is working (which happens more than anyone likes to admit). That’s where I started learning the balance between being methodical and knowing when to just dive in. Now, at WebAI, I’m somewhere between a data scientist and an ML engineer. On the AI team, we work on cutting-edge deep learning projects, and I get to learn from some truly talented people. Here, innovation isn’t just a buzzword — it’s the daily reality. We’re solving hard problems in a field that’s still defining itself. Our story is still unfolding, and I’m lucky to be part of it. I can’t wait to see where it goes!
