About Krystal George

Krystal George has been working in the field of gender equity and gender-based violence for over 17 years. She is an NC Central University Eagle and holds a bachelor’s degree in public health education and a master’s degree in public administration. Krystal recently earned her doctorate in Leadership at North Carolina A&T State University. Krystal worked over 6 years at the NCCU Women's Center, where she found a passion for helping survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence; and educating the community about this issue. She has provided training on rape culture, power, and privilege for universities and state and national conferences. She also served on the North Carolina Campus Consortium Advisory Committee for many years, led by the state coalitions. In April 2015, Krystal joined the Duke University Women's Center as the Assistant Director for Educational Initiatives. In this role, she was responsible for providing expertise in the creation, development, and assessment of services related to gender-based violence for the Duke community. She also oversaw the implementation of environmental prevention, intervention, education, and training efforts to engage undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in the reduction and elimination of gender-based violence on campus. Krystal is now serving as the Director of the Duke University Women’s Center. Working at the Duke University Women's Center has allowed her to motivate students of all genders on campus professionally and personally. It has also allowed her to raise awareness of gender equity to the university through advocacy, civic engagement, and intersectionality from a womanist/feminist lens.
