Background
About Krysten Ernst
Krysten Ernst is an experienced electrical designer with a career spanning over 17 years in the consulting engineering industry. She began her journey in 2006 as a junior technologist at Stantec, where she gained hands-on experience across various aspects of electrical engineering, including drafting, design, construction management, and project management. It was during this time that Krysten developed a passion for lighting design, which has become the cornerstone of her career. An active member of the local chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Krysten has served in leadership roles, including Vice President, President, and currently, Education Chair. Her commitment to the industry was further cemented in 2018 when she achieved Lighting Certified (LC) status. Throughout her career, she has worked on numerous high-profile projects such as the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital and Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan redevelopment. Krysten firmly believes that everyone deserves to experience good lighting, regardless of the project’s scale, as it plays a crucial role in human well-being and performance. Always seeking to elevate the profession, she continuously works to improve how lighting is designed, discussed, and understood. Recently, Krysten has expanded her expertise to include Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), an innovative approach that brings together people, systems and practices to collaboratively optimize project outcomes. IPD is designed to increase value for the owner, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency throughout all phases of design, fabrication, and construction. Krysten finds this approach especially rewarding, as it aligns with her passion for teamwork and creative collaboration. She has seen firsthand the benefits of implementing Lean concepts and intentionally fostering a collaborative culture within projects. As a strong advocate for IPD, Krysten is excited about the potential for this approach to reshape the Saskatchewan market and looks forward to contributing to future projects using this methodology.
