About Kt Healey

I am a comic artist, illustrator, & designer currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a BFA in Comic Art from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. I have experience working in leadership positions on creative design projects including a current anthology series of comics and illustrations from local MCAD students and alumni, in addition to more traditional management positions as a teacher and supervisor in customer service. As a designer and comic artist, I welcome the opportunity to problem solve. The unique collaborative nature of the publishing process for graphic work has drawn me to this field, from the initial stages of working with agents and editors, to networking with fellow artists for future projects, to even the more meta aspect of creating a collaboration between text and image as equals. My practice relies on my years of experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as knowledge of more tactile tools, from ink to paints, to paper. I like to create art that is funny and bouncy, drawing on my personal experiences for the aspects of childhood I write about. Overall, my main mission is to write stories that help readers guide themselves through the tough situations in life with humor, imagination, and empowerment.
