About Kurt Baker

30th Century Partners was founded by Kurt Baker as an Asian-centric multi-strategy/asset/manager hedge fund platform based in Hong Kong, with a mission to provide investors with absolute returns on a risk adjusted basis. We seek to source and enable top grade talent and alpha streams on a platform built from the ground up for performance. We believe that investors need better alignment between allocations and risk-adjusted return opportunities, and investment talent needs better alignment between return expectations and the platform in which this talent and return streams are developed, supported, and enhanced. We see talent that can run relative value strategies with an Asian-centric lens, but who need a path to investor access and a platform on which to excel. We see investors who need to source those returns. Aided by integration of proprietary and third party technology, combined with our investment talent, we seek to provide the solution to this need. Our PMs are risk aware and aim to invest in diverse alpha sources through equity (relative value fundamental equity and non-linear arbitrage); fixed income (rates, credit, FX); and systematic strategies (statistical arbitrage and quantitative trading). Our primary geographic focus is on: Japan, India, China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan, opportunistically investing in other countries. PMs are subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis of every strategy, with consideration to correlation to other strategies managed within the platform. We employ what we view as a flexible approach to allocation, for investment professionals at different stages of development, from analyst to trader and ultimately independent portfolio manager, subjected to our integrated risk management process. Allocations are required to have internal validation of fit by all stakeholders, with approval by the CRO, CTO, COO, and CDSO prior to commitment and seek to maximise long term performance by the portfolio manager. Creating a portfolio with low strategy correlation and where strategies complement each other is a core focus, leveraged by what we believe is knowing how to source and construct a diversified portfolio of strategies, across asset classes. Prior to founding 30th Century Partners, Kurt worked for 9 years with Millennium Partners in Hong Kong as the Asian Head of Business Development. He was a member of the firm's Asian Management Committee and its resident Board Director in Hong Kong, and mandated as an integral part of the firm's growth in the region.
