I am Kurt Hellmann, a communications strategist at Geneva 7 Communications and Marketing LLC, a boutique firm that specializes in strategic communications, issue research, and advocacy. I have more than 20 years of experience in public/government affairs, communications, and advocacy, working in both the public and private sectors in multiple industries. My mission is to influence government officials, state and federal agencies, stakeholders, and constituents on issues of public importance, such as health care, energy, environment, and disability rights. I have led lobbying and grassroots campaigns, served as an advisor on legislation, and acted as a liaison between organizations and public officials. I have a proven track record of securing state and federal funding for programs, defeating harmful policies, and promoting beneficial reforms. Some of my notable achievements include obtaining in first-time state funding to expand programs for Louisianans with disabilities, restoring and increasing Congressional funding for the Assistive Technology Act, and developing and executing the “Free to Choose Medicine” Campaign, focused on reforming the FDA drug approval process. My key areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, lobbying/contract lobbyist management, grassroots campaigns, coalition development, ally engagement across party lines, public affairs/media relations, communications management, and high-impact presentations.
