About Kurt Martin

I’ve been a police officer for 25 years. As such I have been exposed to a variety of different jobs within my organization. The majority of my career, about 22 years, was investigative in nature. I have an extensive background in forensics and complex investigations such as homicide and major case management. I helped in the design and delivery of a detective course which is given to every new detective upon promotion. I’ve always been very innovative in every area that I have worked in which has led to me having very strong, problem-solving skills. I’ve been able to shape and action change from a very early stage in my career, which is always been something that I have enjoyed. The last three years of my career have been in the IT and records area of our organization. I was part of the team that was tasked with the implementation of an upgraded records management system, which was the single, biggest and most impactful project that our organization had done in over 15 years. This project was delivered on time and on budget thanks to the strength of the team that was assembled to execute it. I am also part of the team that was tasked with implementing, drafting policy and executing the proof of concept for body worn camera which scaled to s service wide delivery model. This involved a lot of work on the part of IT, information, management, our police officers and our partners in the Crown federal and provincial crown prosecutors office. Over the last three years, I’ve been able to affect organization-wide change and shape records management systems and digital evidence management systems that are being built by multimillion and multi billion dollar companies who I have met with multiple times. I am a strong leader and lead several teams of very high functioning individuals that have very differing scopes of work, all of which are very complicated and technical. I have an interest in technology, programming and game development, which has provided me with the valuable insights into problem-solving and creative thinking, which has benefitted me in my career over the last 20 years. I thrive on puzzles and challenges and find that those are the most fulfilling parts of my day-to-day. In 2023 I released my first mobile video game which sat at the #26 in the Action category.
