About Kurt Moldrup

Riley County Police Department Major Kurt Moldrup has functioned as a sworn officer for the community of Riley County and Manhattan since March 1985. Since then he rose through the ranks and was eventually promoted to Captain in May 2009. Through Moldrup’s service at Riley County Police Department he has been assigned to Patrol, Investigations (Gangs and Narcotics), Patrol Commander, Support Division Commander, Public Information Officer, and Internal Affairs. He has trained officers on First Aid/CPR/AED and has been a member of the Emergency Response Tactical Team as Team Medic. He is married and has eleven children with several grandchildren and is an advocate for home schooling. Moldrup remains a supporter of police becoming involved in the community and demonstrates this as he continues to be involved in community activities such as church functions. In June of 2018 Moldrup was asked to serve as the Interim Assistant Director and served in that role until he was promoted to the rank of Major in January of 2020. As the Assistant Director, Moldrup oversees the day to day operations of the Riley County Police Department.
