About Kurtis Blackburn

I am an emerging writer in the LA Film School writing program. I love reading, hiking, writing, and spending time with my husband and two fussy little dogs. I am based in Salt Lake and enjoy living in a diverse, beautiful place. I grew up with a deep love of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror, and those influences are seen throughout my writing today. Some of my earliest memories were creating stories in my room with my action figures; little plastic figurines of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader allowed my imagination to flourish and planted the seed that would one day bloom into a deep love for creating stories. I love storytelling in every format: Movies, TV, Novels, Comic Books, Theatre, and Video Games. I never miss the opportunity to bond with someone over a story that meant a lot to them, dissecting what it is about that story that made it so impactful. I hope to continue to learn and grow as a writer every day of my life. If I am able to impact someone out there, the same way stories like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings have impacted me, helping me figure out who I am and coming to terms with what that entailed, than I will know I have succeeded as a writer.
