About Kyilah Terry

I am a doctoral student in Political Science (IR) at the University of Pennsylvania. My research primarily centers on strategic migration, EU externalization policies, and climate mobility in East Africa. In 2022, I was a Princeton in Africa fellow working in Kakuma refugee camp with the IRC and in 2021, a Policy Fellow with the Office of the Vice President (OVP). My research in Kenya focused on the gendered impact of displacement and the climate-food insecurity-migration nexus in the Horn of Africa. My work portfolio in the OVP, sponsored by the CBCF, included immigration, national security, and democracy. I received a M.A in International Relations/European Studies from Georgetown University in 2021 and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in International Area Studies in 2019.
