About Kyle Baker

In 2005, as a high school junior, I applied for an internship in the Documentation Resource Center at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics. The job involved making engineering paperwork copies, delivering them to different departments, and other various tasks. Ten years later, I am now the Lead Configuration Analyst in the group that processes the paperwork of which I previously copied. Hands-on learning of quality engineering change management coupled with higher learning of computer information systems has made me the professional I am today. In the proceeding years, I've learned more about the medical device industry than I ever imagined. From product manufacturing release all the way down to how mechanical and electrical design data are stored and maintained, the amount of information is indispensable. Whilst obtaining my Bachelor's in Computer Information Systems, I was reluctant to apply my newfound knowledge to my tasks as a college intern. For example, I learned about systems development concurrent to the introduction and release of an electronic engineering PLM I still use today. Furthermore, I facilitated the increased usage of business tools like Adobe Acrobat Professional and Snagit for clearer and faster communication. Working with a company regulated by the FDA has also strongly influenced my work ethic. Ensuring all information processed is accurate and complies with our standard procedures, I am reminded daily the importance of my position. Being a member of a community that offers products for disease screening and blood transfusions is extraordinarily rewarding.
