About Kyle Campbell

My interest in programming started in my early teenage years. I am a programmer both by career and by hobby as well as an avid PC gamer. I've worked for Onondaga County since I became an Associate in Science with CSC as my major at Onondaga Community College. Through a mixture of amazing professors and supportive peers I was able to land my first real gig with the county through M. A. Polce consulting and was promptly hired on full-time a few months later. My first five years with the county have been exciting and challenging. I've been a key player in the development and release of one of the biggest applications in Onondaga County serving over 40 law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and more. This application is called CHAIRS 2 and is built upon a vendor framework that I successfully forked, improved, and continue to maintain. Additionally, I am also one member of a small team of talented and enthusiastic programmers that have created and continue to maintain the CHAIRS 2 application. Although this has been my main focus, I have been known to dabble in creating tools for the my team members for various purposes including data analysis and automation of previously tedious processes. My biggest non-programming accomplishments with the county have been successfully converting my team from CVS to Git (via our own internal install of GitLab that I manage) and implementing continuous integration via GitLab for our staging server. Confession: I love bleeding edge. While I can respect and uphold the need for stability and long-term versioning for enterprise software, my personal software is CHAOS. I love playing with the latest and greatest software tech and programming languages. When I'm not programming or gaming I'm usually reading r/programming, r/netsec, stackoverflow, watching computerphile/numberphile/vSauce/etc on YouTube, or indulging in my favorite show of all time: Critical Role on geekandsundry.com (seriously, check it out!).
