About Kyle Duncker Kastick

I'm passionate about combining user research, sleek visual design, and design systems to create striking digital products. Interested in UX / Product design, and freelance web development- In my humble beginnings as a UX intern at Kabbage, I proved my worth by creating the company's first comprehensive design system for its desktop and responsive mobile experiences. It was a massive effort that absorbed the majority of my time in the internship, but it allowed me to work with designers, developers, and engineers to learn their needs and become intimately familiar with even the most obscure facets of the product. Ultimately, the effort paid off, as I was able to introduce a powerful resource for UX team and hone the professional skills and values that would become the core of my design philosophy: communication, organization, and accessibility. I believe in a collaborative approach to design. As a UX designer, I don't own the user experience of a product; I push it to its fullest potential by reconciling the needs of users with the values and ambitions of an organization and the numerous individuals within it. In more practical terms, this means actively fostering communication between contributors that inhabit wildly different roles on varied teams. It also means designing with tools, assets, and processes that are visible to collaborators across an organization—not just designers. Aside from all of that, I have a strong background in the visual arts and an enduring appreciation for them that shapes my work at every step. While my passions may not always be visible at the surface of my work, I'm always drawing on my love for experimental typography, anime, film, and drawing (among many other things) as inspiration to ensure my work has a certain degree of visual polish and splendor. I also enjoy experimenting with new technologies and excel at incorporating cutting-edge tools into my workflow in ways that bring unexpected value to my team.
