About Kyle Froman

I am passionate about visual storytelling, drawing from my early years as a New York City Ballet dancer into a diverse career as a dance, theater, and fashion photographer. My book, IN THE WINGS: BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE NEW YORK CITY BALLET, established my reputation for capturing expressive motion, and in 2025, I curated, photo edited, and designed IN BALANCHINE'S STEPS: HOW THE GEORGE BALANCHINE FOUNDATION PRESERVES HIS GENIUS, which expanded my storytelling skills. My photography is featured in Vanity Fair, The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Dance Magazine, and has been exhibited at Jacob’s Pillow and the 92nd Street Y. I collaborate with leading dance companies, including American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, and the Royal Danish Ballet, working closely with creative teams to capture kinetic energy. In fashion, I’ve photographed New York Fashion Week for designer Joseph Altuzara, striving to bring life, style, and movement to every frame. On Broadway, I create campaign imagery for shows like The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Billy Elliot, Memphis, and more- bringing out the character, vibrancy, and spirit behind each moment on stage. My specialty lies in capturing movement: on stage, on the runway, or behind the scenes, I highlight the intersection of technique, emotion, and visual impact.
