About Kyle Hick

I am very excited about the future and what is next for my life. I have served the US Navy in the submarine force for over 20 years. I have learned a lot and I am a better man because of my service. However I am ready for a new adventure as I return to the civilian work force in January 2024! I am finishing my career here in the San Antonio, TX area participating in the DoD's Skill Bridge program. I'm here at Sun Belt Rentals while completing my transition out of the Navy. The Skill Bridge program is a wonderful program that I am enjoying and learning a lot from that I can not endorse enough for any service member! I have lead a true Navy life. I have been to all four corners of the USA. I’ve also been to Hawaii and Guam as well. I’m quite literally a world traveler. I've lived in the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest, the south, the middle of the Atlantic coast and last but not least, the paradise state of Hawaii. Yes there have been a lot of miles between all those duty stations but also a lot of memories. I’ve been stationed on five submarines. I’ve started at the bottom and climbed up to an upper management level as a Chief Petty Officer. I love being a Chief. I love helping my sailors, my junior personnel, become better sailors and better people. I also love working as a team on the submarine, working with my fellow Chiefs, officers and the junior sailors to accomplish a myriad of missions. Even the smallest mission is vital and I love being a part of that process. I have served as nearly every possible position on the submarine. As a junior sailor I qualified in submarines and learned how subs work and earning the trust of my fellow submariners. I also obtained certification and/or held the role of nearly every position available for me on board. I always wanted to push for the next certification or qualification. I always wanted to be better. I chose to fill an opening in Charleston, SC due to my ability to work and fix diesels. I enjoy diesel work and learned a lot there but also had a good time working there. As a Chief I’ve lead numerous divisions that were always made up of varying sailors, all with different backgrounds and skill sets. I helped them use these skills to meet and often exceed goals laid upon us. I’ve seen my sailors grow to higher ranks and promoted. As a Chief there is nothing more rewarding than to see my junior sailors advance. As a submarine non-nuclear mechanic, I am open to a lot of jobs.
