About Kyle Kattke
My passion is renewable energy and energy efficiency, and the optimization of these systems using techno-economic models. Starting in graduate school, I modeled the thermal-fluid interactions of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell systems. I began my professional career developing Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants at Abengoa Solar. At Abengoa, I modeled both the detailed physics of components and the overall system in order to predict the annual electrical generation. Coupling this generation to financial models, I was able to optimize CSP plants to minimize overall project cost. My role transitioned towards project development where I managed the technical proposal package submitted to our customers (utilities in the SW US). My knowledge base of thermal energy systems, performance modeling, solar resource assessment, and utility rate structures provides the foundation necessary to optimize and define a wide range of renewable energy and energy efficiency systems.
