Background
About Kyle Kellar
I like to solve problems. With an analytical approach and the ability to think strategically in a complex, evolving work environment I work quickly towards finding a solution to the pressing questions and issues. Whether is questions regarding our on-going capital projects or answering a tenants question regarding their residence I am quick to uncover the route of the issue and identify a strategic solution. In my current position I work within the field of Public Works for a First Nations Community, in which I deal with water treatment, waste water management, O&M, community infrastructure, a housing program, capital projects, among other duties. I utilize a strong educational background in Environmental Technologies and Civil Engineering to bring strategic, logically sound judgement to these issues on a daily basis. As a driven, young adult I still stride to give back to the community that helped me become the person I am today. Through current and past volunteer work I am steadily making progress with this goal. I have worked as a Director for a Student Managed Organization, I have held the position of President for the Society of Science and Engineering Technology and worked on multiple committees and planning teams regarding youth programming and events. It’s these experiences that have led me to become an organizer, a leader and a team player. Currently I am involved with Youth Programming, organizing and running events for Youth in North Western Ontario to give opportunities for growth, access to resources and networking that they may not otherwise have. To continue to grow, and support my community I would love to advance my career path. I am looking to begin the process of working towards becoming a licensed civil engineer. I am currently registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario as an Engineer in Training and would jump at the chance to work under a licensed engineer and start logging hours. If you have any questions about my work within Rainy River First Nations, or have an opportunity you would like me to be aware of please feel free to contact me at: kwkellar@lakeheadu.ca
