About Kyle Klim

Hello! I’m Kyle Klim (He/Him), a researcher, educator, and community engagement professional passionate about mental health, human security, and social justice. I recently completed my Master’s in Human Security and Peacebuilding at Royal Roads University, where I explored the impacts of war on displaced Ukrainian young adults. My research included fieldwork in Poland, collaborating with Adam Mickiewicz University, conducting interviews and surveys with youth navigating trauma, displacement, disrupted education, and systemic barriers to mental health care. This work deepened my commitment to understanding how digital tools, trauma-informed care, and policy intersect to improve access to mental health services for vulnerable populations. In addition to research, I have experience designing and implementing inclusive campus events, supporting student engagement, and coordinating mental health initiatives. I have served as a Teaching Assistant, Recreation & Student Engagement Coordinator, and Student Engagement Assistant at Royal Roads University, creating welcoming environments and promoting community well-being. I have also volunteered teaching English to displaced Ukrainians, preparing meals for shelters, and supporting newcomer health programs in Victoria, Canada. These experiences have strengthened my belief in the power of community-driven solutions and the importance of amplifying underrepresented voices. My long-term goal is to bridge research, policy, and practice to create rights-based, trauma-informed, and digitally innovative mental health interventions for youth affected by conflict and displacement. I am especially interested in working across disciplines to co-create solutions with communities, ensuring that those impacted are partners in designing services that truly meet their needs. Outside of work, I am an active individual who loves traveling, exploring new cultures, and staying physically active. These interests inform my perspective on the world and help me connect with diverse communities with empathy and curiosity. I thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments where research, community engagement, and practical impact come together.
