About Kyle McCaughan

I am an experienced scientist and researcher with advanced training the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and food sciences. The bulk of my PhD research has focused on food borne pathogens (bacteria, viruses, and protozoa) and the development of methods for their detection and elimination, specifically with respect to produce and food-processing environments. Additionally, while conducting my graduate research, I have worked as a scientist for a biotechnology company producing antibody-based assays and bacteriophage products, being solely responsible for multiple product lines. The most rewarding aspects of my career thus far have been the opportunities to mentor and train graduate and undergraduate level researchers, aiding in their development and inspiring them to pursue careers in food sciences. I have also had the pleasure of collaborating with individuals from many different backgrounds, communicating scientific findings to growers, industry partners, governmental collaborators, and other researchers.
