About Kyle McDonald

Hello, I am Kyle McDonald, an Ocean Mapping graduate through the Marine Institute. I am always seeking employment opportunities both short and long term. Through my time as a student I have gained theoretical and field experience. This includes surveying practices, GNSS Positioning, multi-beam sonar, single-beam sonar, side scan sonar, and remote sensing. Through my employment with the Marine Institute and Fugro I have gained additional field experience and data examination. This includes data collection and processing (primarily multi-beam); equipment setup, deployment, and troubleshooting; and equipment positioning and tracking/monitoring. In addition to Ocean Mapping, I am a graduate from Memorial University's Bachelor of Technology program. This program provided experience in Project Management, Technology Assessments, Economics, and Technical Writing. This program allowed me to implement and understand the importance of project planning, cost analysis, and technology implementation with respect to job/project completion. Finally, prior to becoming and Ocean Mapping I graduated from the College of the North Atlantic's Electrical Engineering (Power and Controls) Technology Program. Through the courses completed and my time with the Canadian Coast Guard I have gained much experience in AC/DC machines, and circuitry; emergency/stand-by systems, transformer analysis and trouble-shooting; general system maintenance; and alarm and monitoring system implementation and trouble-shooting. I am make a great asset to any team and project. My Ocean Mapping background allows me to provide valuable insight to hydrographic projects with a great eye for data analysis and processing. My Electrical experience allows me to provide additional support for equipment installation and troubleshooting with respect to both hydrographic and vessel equipment.
