About Kyle Morphy

Passionate about sports, entertainment, recreation and design I am striving to develop transformational catalytic city building and community projects in the Canadian marketplace. Having designed projects in Australia, New Zealand, India, Korea, Singapore, China and the United States, my project work includes the design of the masterplan, urban park and the main stadium for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon Korea, the redevelopment of the Olympic Park Tennis Centre site for the Australian Open in Melbourne, the Datong Sports Park in China, and the Southeast Event Centre in Steinbach. Having spent the last several years working in the Canadian sports and recreation market, my most recent experience has focused on community-based recreation architecture in both rural and urban Canadian centres. My community-oriented work includes the Chapples Park Soccer Centre in Thunder Bay Ontario, the vision for the Steinbach PAC and Recreation Masterplan and the Meridian Exhibition Centre in Manitoba. My interest in urban design, downtown redevelopment planning and the impact that design can have on our cities has led to several successful international design competition collaborations including the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Urban Marker Competition, the Warming Huts International Competition on Ice and Cielo Raso, a unique and flexible alleyway urban art installation and event space in downtown Winnipeg. With an appreciation of the intersection of design and city building I have delivered presentations at major events on the impact of venue design and downtown entertainment district planning including, Athletic Business, the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) Venue Connect and as a guest panelist for the Mayor’s Downtown Safety Summit in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am an invited member of the Public Realm Committee for the Downtown Winnipeg Biz, the design, event, promotion and development arm of the City of Winnipeg
