Background
About Kyle Rogers
As the great Samwise Gamgee once said, “There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.” This quote has always meant a lot to me. The things we do for others, big or small, makes a difference. Whether it be volunteer work, a community project, or even something as simple as making someone laugh, what we can do to improve the lives of ourselves and others, makes the world a better place. I never thought I would enter the healthcare field. Most of my early career interests revolved around tech/wildlife. I became a Support Aide at a local nursing home after high school. Building a connection with the residents and staff, I obtained my CNA certification. I originally was going to continue on and pursue nursing but decided to become a Paramedic. I worked on an ambulance service for 6 years, obtaining my Community Paramedic and Critical Care certificates during that time. I also got a second job as a Paramedic in the ER at Gundersen Health System. It was at this time I decided to go back to school for my Nursing Degree. I finished nursing school with my associate degree in December 2017. I have always wanted to do medical flight transportation, so I was fortunate enough to get into the ICU as a new grad and worked there for a year and a half. I missed the pace and style of care of emergency medicine and in 2019, I transferred back to the ER where I also became a charge nurse. I obtained my bachelor's degree early 2021. A leadership opportunity presented itself, and in July 2021, I became a Supervisor of the ER. I got to be a part of some amazing changes and process improvements in the ER. My proudest accomplishment was creating and implementing ES-specific critical pages that allowed us to get the necessary staff and resources at the bedside efficiently for our sickest patients without having to call or track individual services. There is a page for adults, pediatrics, and now neonates. I have always loved teaching. I enjoyed precepting new staff and students, teaching classes, and presenting to the department on various topics. In November 2023, I became the nurse educator for the ER and that is where I am at today. Outside of my professional life, I have an amazing wife Jen, who also is a nurse, and two wonderful kids. I have done missionary work in Kenya, where we delivered school supplies, infant clothes, and bought a delivery bed for a rural clinic. I also volunteered for disaster relief efforts in Haiti after their large earthquake in 2010. I also obtained my Fire 1 certificate and was a part-time firefighter for 3 years.
