A recent book search on Amazon lists over titles for the most desired core competency in business: leadership. How do organizations practically apply what is written on those pages to produce results? This is where I can help. Growing up, I played a variety of team sports. One of my coaches decided to give each player a written performance evaluation. At the top of my assessment he wrote in red ink, “Do you want to be a leader?” My immediate reaction was, “Yes.” But little did I know then the responsibility such a question demanded. Over time, I came to realize the wisdom in the question, because it is one that can be asked again and again. It is an ongoing challenge that causes me to pause and reflect,"How do I demonstrate leadership today?” When I present on the topic of leadership to executive professionals, I share a simple truth that resonates with every audience—leadership is about integrity. My professional experience demonstrates a proven track record of conducting myself with integrity that drives performance. From Fortune 50 to nationally recognized non-profit organizations, I’ve shown the ability to enter an organization, learn the business, and collaborate with others to achieve goals by leading with integrity. I consider the positions I've held in a variety of industries an asset. The diversity of cross-functional experiences equipped me with the ability to lead in multiple arenas: for-profit, non-profit, global business, and local business. Each field provided the opportunity to exercise critical thinking, active listening, and decision-making skills with the purpose of leading dynamic teams to drive organizational results.
