About Kynan Walper

I am an experienced Professional with a background in both the Military and Law Enforcement. As a former Infantry Officer (Rank of Captain), I have trained and led soldiers as Platoon Commander in the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment. In 2010 I was deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan where I led a team embedded with the Afghan National Police. During my deployment I led my team and Afghan counterparts on numerous combat missions and participated in many high stakes operations in close cooperation and planning with other Military units including US Special Forces. During my deployment I was awarded the Chief of Defence Staff Commendation for my leadership within extremely high risk situations as well as the Sacrifice Medal for injuries sustained in combat. Following my deployment I was placed into numerous roles including Battalion Information Officer and Assistant to the Deputy Commander of the Canadian Expeditionary Force Command in Ottawa. As a Police Officer I have maintained a high dedication to professionalism and leadership while serving the community. I am a recognized leader who is frequently tasked with mentorship of newer members. I have also performed the function of Acting Sergeant during hundreds of high risk situations which required a calm demeanor while exercising command and control over numerous units to regain order from chaos. During my time as a Police Officer I have received numerous commendations for competence, teamwork and physical fitness. I have also received the St John Ambulance Lifesaving Award for my actions in saving a citizens life. I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Enterprise Risk Management at Boston University and I am a Certified Protection Professional designated by ASIS International.
