Background
About Lachlan Grigg
I just completed my course at Victoria University studying a Bachelor of Sport Management majoring in Sport and Active Communities.Ever since I can remember I have always been fascinated in sports and my goal has always been to work in the sporting industry. After completing my degree, my goal is to work in a well-established sporting organisation in the sporting administration area. In my current employment, I work causal jobs. Working in customer service at the AFL & Target, maintenance at The Geelong College and organising and running cricket clinics at primary schools for Cricket Victoria. My contribuition to the AFL is to provide customer service support to the grassroots programs of the Australian Football League. This is through enquiries of emails and phone calls to give support for community football in the levels of Auskick, Junior and Senior football clubs players and coaches. My contribution to the organisation of Target is stock control. This entails unloading and putting stock onto the floor, which is delivered daily. At The Geelong College my responsibility is to maintain that the buildings and grounds of the school in at high standards for students, staff and visitors. My responsibilities at Cricket Victoria is for me to travel to local schools around the Geelong, Surf Coast & Bellarine Peninsula to teach cricket skills to children, between the ages of 5-12 years. The goal of the clinics is to engage the local communities with cricket that supports children to gain knowledge towards their next steps of connecting with local cricket clubs.I also have developed experience in the professional sporting industry.During my last completed placement at Western United (140 Hours), I help in the match day operations and events. I’m actively involved during the week for preparation of the A League men’s and women’s match days. The placement also involves working with other departments to see what can make match day better for players, workers and fans. When match day arrives, make sure all the work during the week is successful on match day.I completed my first placement at the Western Bulldogs Football Club in the recruiting department (70 hours). The experience with the Bulldogs gave me the ability to code and analysis games. Working as an individual and a team member in an organisation that was leading towards a goal of identifying talent from other leagues to join the club. These skills I have gathered from my employment over the years, will help me start my journey and make a lasting impact to individuals and organisations.
