About Lachlan Marks

Lachlan Marks is an award-winning screenwriter and one-third of MMGG Creative, developing feature and television projects for production companies across the US, Australia, Canada and Europe. MMGG’s first produced feature, a thriller for Reel One Entertainment, filmed in Toronto in late 2023 and will screen first on TF1 in France in 2024. With a focus on horror, sci-fi and dark comedy, Lachlan is passionate about examining monsters of all varieties through unexpected, timely and inclusive stories. A graduate of the Australian Film Television & Radio School, he’s won and placed highly in major screenwriting competitions (WeScreenplay TV, Shore Scripts TV, Monte Miller Award, A Night of Horror International Film Festival). In 2018, Lachlan was selected for development funding from Scripted Ink, a screenwriting incubator run by showrunner Shane Brennan (NCIS, NCIS:LA) and inducted into the peer-reviewed Australian Writers’ Guild Pathways program designed to showcase exceptional local screenwriting. Since he began splitting his time between Australia and the Netherlands in 2019, he has developed TV and feature projects for the likes of Blooming Media, Rinkel Film, Pure Imagination Studios, Mint Films, Explorers of the Unfound and Reel One Entertainment, working individually and with MMGG. Lachlan has completed several residencies with Australians In Film in Los Angeles, co-funded by ScreenNSW, and works regularly as a script editor internationally. In the UK, he’s created concepts for major music videos for acts such as Trivium and Amon Amarth, now viewed over four million times. In 2022, his script 'Game' won the award for Best Unproduced Short Screenplay at A Night of Horror International Film Festival in 2022, judged by industry peers. The short is slated to shoot in early 2024 with award-winning Australian director/cinematographer Tony Gardiner. Before committing to a life of screenwriting, Lachlan worked extensively as an entertainment journalist and touring musician internationally. As such, he’s well accustomed to long hours, little sleep, large egos and surviving on literal peanuts. See more at:
