About Lachlan Philips

Accomplished economic and former property analyst, experienced in undertaking and communicating data analysis and economic modelling to senior officials. Currently a senior inflation analyst in Treasury’s Prices, Wages and Labour Market Unit. While acting as Inflation Lead, I have led the Prices team’s inflation forecasting, conditions reporting and related briefings. Other core responsibilities include developing economic models, liaison, project management and policy analysis, particularly in relation to inflation. These roles emphasise the use of econometrics and economic theory to generate actionable insights and briefings. Holding a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s in History, I draw on a range of research, data analysis and communication techniques. This has enabled me to succeed in a diverse set of property finance, public policy and macroeconomics roles. Economic thinking and tools have remained a constant throughout my career, which I aim to continue using to better support evidence-based decision making.
