About Lachlan Spears

As a sessional instructor at Edith Cowan University, I facilitate online and on-campus tutorials for undergraduate courses in education, such as ICT-Enhanced Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Assessment, and Teachers and the School System. I also create and update online modules, mark assignments, and liaise with students. I have received high student satisfaction ratings for my engaging and interactive teaching methods, and I integrate cutting-edge research and ICT practices into my course content. I have recently completed my PhD degree in education at Edith Cowan University, where I conducted original research on Assessment for Learning and early career teacher development. My thesis offers valuable insights about formative assessment, policy actor theory, and teacher identity, and I have multiple publications on the way. I have also gained extensive research skills, including data collection, analysis, and recruitment, as well as proposal writing and literature reviews. I have worked on various research projects and teams, and liaised with contacts from various educational organisations across Australia. I have developed expertise in the institutional, logistical, and regulatory requirements for teacher education in Australia. I'm excited to share my expertise in assessment, teacher education, and educational policy to empower learners through innovative assessment practices. I'm also passionate about the potential of artificial intelligence for enhancing assessment design and feedback.
