About Laia Jorba

Over 16 years of combined experience of group facilitation and teaching - Creative movement and counseling experience complemented with rigorous academic work - Passionate to learn and to share my learning with others - Reliable, empathetic and culturally aware - Specialized in complex trauma - Multicultural and Fluent in Spanish, Catalan, and English Trauma resolution is at the heart of what I do. As a body-centered psychotherapist, I believe in including the wisdom of body, emotions and mind to guide you toward the person you always wanted to be. In working with individuals, I integrate different modalities, multicultural sensitivities and knowledge-based research. I welcome people of all origins to explore cultural identities through embodied practices. This is also informed by more than 16 years of experience as a national and international educator and trainer. I support therapists in their professional and personal path as a teacher, supervisor and mentor. I am also the co-Director at Whole Connection, a clinic in Boulder county serving to give access to mental health care to people in need and striving to address systemic social injustices. This work has proven to be very rewarding while we train new generations of therapists in an acts of service. I obtained my Master's Degree from Naropa University's Somatic Counseling Psychology in Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy concentrations. I taught at the Somatic Department at Naropa University and now I’m a faculty member at the Sensirimotor Psychotherapy Institute, founded by Pat Ogden. I also have a BA, MA and PhD in Political Science, and taught and conducted research at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. My main specialization was Political Philosophy (ethics and social justice), but also worked on democracy and new technologies and immigrant political integration. While living in Barcelona, I was also the project director at the Fundació Catalunya Europa working to increase connections, understanding and knowledge between different countries in Europe. I am passionate to continue learning and bringing this learning to colleagues, students and clients.
