About Lainie Messina

I am a leader & coach. My (capital P) Purpose is to bring out the best in every one of my clients. I work with staff at all levels, from Chief Nursing Officer to Nurse Managers to front line staff, to cultivate strong leaders, engage employees and improve the patient experience. I coach over 100 Nursing Leaders at 4 of the RWJBarnabas Health hospitals in achieving HCAHPS goals and developing and executing leadership development programs. I have proven I can motivate and inspire individuals and large groups to change behavior, transform culture and ultimately improve patient satisfaction results. Some insight into what makes me tick- I am at my best when facing a big challenge, both in my personal and professional life. I love the phrase:"If it were easy, everyone would do it."- I treasure that feeling of blowing a goal away. I can demonstrate with facts and figures a track record of exceeding targets, whether it is revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction or my own health transformation- I enjoy learning new things. One of the best parts of life is with every day, we have the opportunity to grow and improve. I have successfully transitioned between industries and functional departments, and with each career move I bring my fundamental skills and build upon them- I gravitate to big, broad roles. I like bringing clarity and focus to that which appears ambiguous and daunting- I believe there is no greater victory than to make your customers so happy that they never want to go anywhere else- I am comfortable being an individual contributor, but I prefer to collaborate with smart, engaging and committed people. I love to bring out the best in the people around me, and embrace mentorship- I take great pride when people call me a strong communicator. That means I am able to take what I'm thinking or feeling, even if it appears complicated at the start, and convey it in a way people understand.
