About Lamith Caldera

I have an extensive background in banking, accounting and more recently in Accounting & Finance Lecturing where I have gained professional qualifications and recent New Zealand experience. I have thirteen years experience at Hatton National Bank Plc, Sri Lanka where I gained skills and knowledge in all areas of banking processes specialising credit management area in personal, commercial and corporate sector and also in rural banking. In addition to my technical skills I have up skilled in business analysis, project management and human resources which has allowed me to effectively lead and manage teams to meet KPI’s, tight daily deadlines and compliance requirements. Since coming to New Zealand I have completed my academic requirements for professional accounting and gained experience in the provision of accounting and taxation services for clients.I am tertiary qualified with a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management and Master of Professional Accounting. I am an associate member of CPA Australia. I worked as Business and Accounting Lecturer in Royal Business College, Auckland Campus for Diploma in Business Management Level 7 and Diploma in Entrepreneurship Level 7. At present I work as a Lecturer in Otago Polytechnic, Auckland International Campus and deliver my knowledge to Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Graduate Diploma in Applied Management learners. My main areas of teaching consists of Intermediate and Advanced Financial Accounting, Intermediate and Advanced Management Accounting, Business Transformation and Change, Organisational Research Design.etc, At present, I pursue my PhD at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand and research interest examines how accounting information is used by capital market participants, including issues on earnings co-movements, corporate disclosure, stock return volatility, the timeliness of earnings, asset pricing models, Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Governance, Auditing and Corporate Social Responsibility.
