About Lance H. Smith

As an independent business owner, I've been leveraging my skills and passion for event planning, editing, public speaking, live music operations, hospitality, and social media to create and deliver engaging and memorable experiences for various audiences and clients. I have over 10 years of experience in this role, and I enjoy the flexibility and autonomy it offers me to pursue my creative vision and goals. Before moving back to the US, I was the founder and creative director of The Retro Group, a foreign/Chinese company that operated three successful brands in the entertainment, live music, and hospitality industry: American Retro, Retro Lounge, and Le Quartier Deco. For nearly ten years, I oversaw the strategic direction, marketing, branding, and operations of these venues, and managed a team of talented professionals and artists. I also have a BA in Creative Writing from Colorado State University, and I have taught and written for various publications and platforms. My mission is to inspire and entertain people through my work and to contribute to the cultural and social development of my community.
