About Lance Olive

I became a business operations executive because I love being responsible for decisions that make customers happy and companies profitable. I enjoy the challenge of finding the sweet spot where the customer is willing to pay a fair price for the services rendered and the company can not only cover its costs, but also make a nifty profit. My early career was spent writing software, administering computers and supporting users. I researched, designed and wrote a mainframe application for 400 users, which enabled our company to eliminate printing on 250 pounds of paper per year in order to pass ISO standards. I also wrote operating system software and fixed more than 500 major/critical bugs in nearly 200 different Unix commands. Later in my career I transitioned from writing Java-based network management software to managing a team of engineers. I embraced the challenges of motivating people, planning projects, managing the tasks and delivering for customers, while balancing the teetering quadrangle of quality, scope, schedule and cost. While working as a certified project manager and town council member, I earned my MBA and created a solid foundation of theory to underpin my experience and give me the tools to drive business forward. I’m currently using this to pursue my passion for driving a services business through it’s growth from a one-man operation to more than a dozen employees and over $2M in gross revenue. As an extravert, I love spending time with family, friends and neighbors. I relish getting out in my community, making new friends, finding areas that could use improvement and driving efforts to see them through. I have volunteered with faith-based initiatives to provide education and healthcare to those in need. To any venture, whether personal or private, family or community, non-profit or for-profit, I bring my fiscally smart financial management, strong people skills and a persistent drive to push past the status quo and reach for the greater goals.
