About Lance Tango

A lifelong interest in the human capacity to transform experiences-of-dissatisfaction into sparks-of-innovation, not only shaped my academic and professional pursuits, but also inspired my personal interests in the arts and social-philosophy. As if by obsession, I often consider where we currently find ourselves in our evolutionary process of human-consciousness - from how we value interpersonal relationships, to how we negotiate our place within the global landscape, to how do we conceptualize social justice, or what our scientific understanding is of how our brains work. and finally to the question of which values each of us will need to develop within ourselves as we find ourselves rapidly moving toward an unknown future of vast possibility.My therapeutic work with clients provides a forum where individuals, couples and families can confront their experiences of dissatisfaction, creating opportunities for innovative life-shifting transformation. Acknowledging the power of human resiliency I conduct therapy as a process of Restorative Engagement with the following aims:• Restore clients' capacity for healthy interpersonal relationships• Restore the self-regulatory capacity of clients' neural circuitry• Rightfully restore clients' life experiences into a proper historical context of resiliency• Restore clients to their dignified-selves by addressing the moral-injuries that underlie traumatic experiencesInformed by my personal life experiences and the witnessing of other people thrive despite difficult life conditions, I don't view personal hardships as liabilities. Rather I understand that difficult life experiences cultivate wisdom, character, soulfulness and passionate determination. I have dedicated my efforts to developing a multimodal approach to therapy that promotes cognitive, affective, neuronal and relational resiliency.
