Retired, as of July '23! After obtaining a BS in Biology and doing a little grad school, I decided pure science wasn't going to cut it for me. So I did a stint in military intelligence, with some intensive language study at Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA before assignment overseas. After serving in the Army Security Agency (ASA), I began a career in manufacturing. My industrial background covers 30 years of manufacturing management. Industries include metals, plastics, and wood. Functional areas include Quality and Production/Operations. The metals experience was in aluminum can manufacturing. The plastics experience was in the compounding arena, mostly twin screw extrusion. It covered the entire spectrum of thermoplastics, from vinyl to olefins & styrenics, all of the engineering plastics, and finally fluoropolymers. And the wood was in residential and commercial cabinetry where I started my own custom cabinet business. At the same time, I became a licensed Home Improvement contractor. I operated in NC for 11 years and then moved back to VA, where I operated for 9 more years, picking up clients as far away as San Diego. I retired in 2023.
