About Lane Casey

Having recently completed the Master's degree in Psychology: Social, Personality, and Affective Science program at SFSU, my future endeavors are centered around giving back to the LGBTQ+ community at large. My career has been (and will continue to be) spent providing support to queer and trans individuals. Currently, I serve as the Housing Program Manager at LYRIC Center for LGBTQQ+ Youth. In this role, my team and I work 1:1 with unhoused LGBTQ+ youth to support their transition out of the homeless response system and into a place of autonomy from the systems that have repeatedly failed them. I'm a relentless advocate for their safety and wellbeing, especially as it pertains to their identity. My research (which I consider my "back of the house" work) includes various intersections of gender and sexual orientation, focusing on cognition, bias, and discrimination to incite policy-level change as we work towards a more equitable future. Both my extensive research background and hands-on advocacy experience make me a solid candidate for any LGBTQ+ non-profit position, or equivalent.
