About Lanee Higgins

I am a writer, author, and mental health advocate based near Baltimore, Maryland. I began my career as a high school English and middle school ELA and AVID teacher in Washington, D.C, and Baltimore County, Maryland, dedicating seven years to education before transitioning to writing and advocacy. ​ As a mental health advocate, I have been open about my own experiences, particularly following a mental health crisis in February 2021. I use my platform to encourage others to share their stories and seek support, contributing to a broader dialogue on mental health awareness. ​ In my current role as Senior Content Writer and Editor for Mental Health America, I continue to promote mental health awareness and support through writing. I also try to maintain an active presence on social media, sharing insights and updates related to my work and advocacy efforts. Through my multifaceted career, I have made significant contributions to education and mental health advocacy, using my experiences to inspire and support others. My views are always my own.
